UPDATE 2009-04-20: I’ve been corresponding with Josh from SexyBookmarks and are planing on integrating my changes and updates into the parent project. The solo life of DamnSexyBookmarks has been short-lived but I hope to be able to continue to work with Josh to improve SexyBookmarks. I’ll leave this page live for now for those of you who have this installed and will continue to support DamnSexyBookmarks updates for a little while. Thanks for all the encouraging feedback. More good stuff on the way.

DamnSexyBookmarks is my fork of Josh Jones’ SexyBookmarks plugin (v2.1.2) which got me into this plugin development in the first place. You can see it live in action at the bottom of this page.

It includes all the features of SexyBookmarks with the following changes/additions:

  • Customizable sisplay order of bookmarks.
  • Uses WP Custom Fields to store the short URL for each post/page.
This minimizes the need to make a remote request for a short URL each time the post or page is processed.
  • Fix to remove inline CSS when DamnSexyBookmarks is displayed in the feed.
  • Added an option to hide or display DamnSexyBookmarks in feeds.
  • Added an option to hide “Sharing is Caring” or “Sharing is Sexy”.
  • Streamlined code for easier maintenance.

Features in upcoming releases:

  • Remove all inline-styles from the markup.
  • Display bookmarks as a pipe-separated list in feeds instead of a list.
  • Improved handling of remote short URL request failures.
  • Add additional style options.
